We would rather keep a nurse thirty years than hire two for fifteen

4,180 people work here. The median length of service is nine years, which is the number we are proudest of and the one everything below is built around.

Open roles

Everything currently posted. Roles are listed until filled and we do not post placeholders for jobs that do not exist.

Nurse residency

A twelve-month program for new graduate nurses. The September 2026 intake doubled to sixty places. Every resident is paired for the full year with a preceptor of ten years or more, and the pairing does not change when the unit gets busy, which is the part most programs quietly drop.

  • Full salary and benefits from day one. It is a job, not a placement.
  • One protected non-clinical day a month for teaching and reflection.
  • Rotation through three units before you choose where to land.
  • Applications open in February and in August.

Read about the expansion in the newsroom.

An experienced nurse and a new graduate reading a chart together

Residents keep the same preceptor for the full twelve months, including through the units that get busy.

Pay and benefits

  • Published pay bands. Every posting names the band. We do not ask what you currently earn.
  • Health cover from day one, for you and your dependents, with no waiting period.
  • Retirement with a 6% match, vesting over three years.
  • Paid time off starting at 22 days plus holidays, rising with service.
  • Tuition support of up to $6,000 a year for anything clinically relevant, and we do not claw it back if you leave.
  • Shift differentials for nights and weekends, paid at a flat rate rather than a percentage, so the lower-paid roles benefit most.
  • Childcare on the Balboa Drive campus, subsidized, with priority for shift workers.

How hiring works

  1. Apply. One form, no cover letter required, no essay questions.
  2. Screening call within five working days. Fifteen minutes, from a human.
  3. Interview with the hiring manager and someone who would be your peer. The peer has a real veto.
  4. A shift on the unit for clinical roles, paid, before either side commits.
  5. Offer within three working days of the last conversation, with the band and the number in writing.

We reply to every application, including the unsuccessful ones, and we say why. If you have not heard within ten working days, chase us on (619) 555-0195; that is a failure on our side rather than a signal about your application.

Equal opportunity

Winterfield hires without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, age, or veteran status. If you need an adjustment at any point in the process, tell the recruiter; it does not go in your file and it does not affect the decision.

Winterfield Health is a fictional organization built for software demonstrations. The roles listed above are invented, no application is accepted, and no job exists. Nothing on this page is a real offer of employment.
